The Big Issue is heading to The Downs Bristol

As well as the music headliners, Downs Festival is providing a platform for grassroots social and political organisations – with help from The Big Issue

There’s more to festivals than music and beer – and The Downs Festival in Bristol is there not only to entertain but also to effect positive change.

Big-name headliners like Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Paul Weller and techno giants Orbital will take the stage this weekend attracting 25,000 people to the picturesque site at Bristol’s Clifton Down park.

As well as its musical offering, Downs boasts a deep-rooted environmental policy and raises funds for charities and provides a platform for grassroots community, social and political organisations.

And now they’re doubling down on the social echo by teaming up with The Big Issue.

The Big Issue-curated Downs programme will be sold by our vendors across Bristol this week with vendors Jeff and Josh kicking off the week!

We’re also bringing you the Information Stage, giving you the chance to debate and discuss the biggest questions facing the country – to Brexit and beyond.

And to top it all off our very own editor Paul McNamee will be making a special guest appearance on the main stage (alongside the Modfather himself Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher too!) to give punters the low down on The Big Issue and what we do.

You can find vendors selling the Downs Festival Programme at the following locations until Friday August 31.

Dean: Co-op, Gloucester Road, BS7 8AT.

Kris: Tesco, Whiteladies Road, BS8 2RL.

Jack: Bluebird Tea Co, Park Street, BS1 5PB.

Jeff: The Canteen, Stokes Croft, BS1 3QY.

Adrian: Tesco, Wine Street, BS1 2PH.

Gerard: Wahaca, Queens Road, BS8 1QU.

Josh: Co-op, Henleaze Road, BS9 4JT.

Mike: Bristol Temple Meads railway station

Don’t worry if you miss your chance to grab it – we’ll have vendors dotted about the festival site as well!
