Big Issue vendor Rose has always loved knitting and decided this year was the time to use her skills and knowledge of online knitting communities to get involved and give something back to help other Big Issue vendors.

Rose has been spreading the word about The Big Knitathon on knitting website Ravelry and has even started her own group which she would love people to join here.

Rose says:

“Knitting really helped me when I gave up smoking. You can’t knit and smoke at the same time. Also it took my mind off the cravings especially when I was focused on a complicated pattern. Knitting has been likened to meditative yoga.”

Last year, Rose featured in ‘My Pitch’ in the magazine and you can read her story here:

There’s plenty of ways to get involved in The Big Knitathon throughout November and you can read more here. You can also go along to your local Hobbycraft on Saturday 12th November to take part in the Knitathons in store.

Support someone in your own community

With our online vendor map, you can support a local vendor by supplementing their income with a subscription to Big Issue. For every annual subscription sold via a vendor, a vendor receives £50.
