After over 10 loyal and skilled years in the voluntary role of Chair of The Big Issue Foundation, Steve Round has stood down.
Steve said “Chairing the Big Issue Foundation for 10 years has not only been rewarding experience but a humbling one! We have achieved a lot but we need to do more – not only supporting our vendors but addressing some of the causes of homelessness. Making the decision to step down was a hard one but is the right one as I leave the Foundation on very capable hands and enables me to concentrate on some of my work bringing finance to farmers in Africa”.
Big Issue Foundation CEO, Stephen Robertson, said “Steve has done a sterling job as Chair. It has been both a privilege and a pleasure to have had him head up the Board. Being a trustee has some very specific responsibilities and Steve has handled these duties and more with real aplomb. Amongst many things he has completed a fundraising marathon for us, our first ever night walk in Birmingham and much much more. He has always gone above and beyond the duties required of a chair and his passion and belief in our work and objectives to improve the lives of Big Issue vendors is second to none”.
Alison said “After six years as a Trustee with the Foundation I’m delighted to be taking over from Steve as Chair. With the money we raise the Foundation works tirelessly to provide critical support to our vendors at the times they need it most. Steve has led the Foundation with huge dedication and energy for the last 10 years and achieved so much. I look forward to working with the team to build on the great work he has done. On behalf of all of the Trustees I’d like to say a huge thank you to him and wish him every success with his other ventures”.
Stephen Robertson said “I am delighted that Alison will become the new Chair of the Foundation. She has supported us for many years, is highly skilled and committed to our mission. As we open a new chapter in our on-going story we do so in the knowledge that Alison is the perfect person to help guide us as we move forward. I am grateful to her and to Steve for that they have done and all that we will go on to do”.
