Five dedicated Big Issue Foundation supporters took to the streets for Big Issue Vendors as part of the Virgin Money London Marathon 2019.
Jeeves, Jamie, Chris, Rob and Cliffe all ran an incredible 26.2 miles across the famous landmarks of London while dodging the many rhinos, bananas and Big Ben clad runners gracing the iconic route.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our fantastic London Marathon runners this year! The whole team who took on this world-famous challenge to raise funds for our work did brilliantly and deserve a huge round of applause, along with a much needed rest.
Over the past year, the team have hosted pub quizzes, train station collections, sponsored runs and even built an escape room, all to raise vital funds for The Big Issue Foundation. So far, they’ve raised over £14,500 for our work creating opportunities that will end poverty and exclusion for Big Issue vendors.
Kitted out with their Big Issue Foundation running jerseys and cheered on by our energetic cheer team, our runners followed the London Marathon’s unique route through the capital on an unforgettable Sunday. Thank you to our volunteer cheerers for making the atmosphere so fun and supportive!
2019 is a special year for the London Marathon, which has launched its #ThanksaBillion campaign to celebrate the fact that this year the total funds raised by London Marathon fundraisers hit £1 billion this year. We are proud that since 2003 The Big Issue Foundation’s runners have been among the thousands of people raising money for important causes.
