Twitch Streamer Fundraises for The Big Issue Foundation

Did you know that you can fundraise for us through streaming? Twitch streamer Melda (NOTTtheNICEME) fundraised for us through their Twitch stream. We had a chance to ask them a few questions about their fundraiser and all things Twitch…

Q: Why did you decide to fundraise via your Twitch stream?
A: My Twitch is the biggest platform I have so for me it felt like a no brainer to use it to fundraise.

Q: What do you do on your stream and what size is your audience?
A: On my stream, I mostly play horror games like Phasmophobia, sprinkled with Resident Evil games and other variety, including art. I have about 600 followers and an average of 18 viewers per stream.

Q: Why did you choose to support The Big Issue Foundation?
A: I saw The Big Issue Foundation listed as a charity in Tiltify and since I was already familiar with the charity having worked and travelled in central London before, I was excited to read more into it and decided it was the perfect charity to support.

Q: How did you find setting it up with Tiltify?
A: As someone who has used JustGiving and Tiltify, I find that Tiltify allows for a lot more flexibility for stream and I doubt I will ever use JustGiving again for stream. As long as the person setting up with Tiltify is already familiar with streaming and setting up alerts and browser sources, it’s really straight forward.

Q: What was the experience like throughout the month?
A: The high points of the month in terms of donations are right at the beginning and at the end, during the dedicated charity stream. The charity stream at the end of the month was the only reason the target was hit I believe and could not recommend it enough.

Q: What do you wish you knew before you started?
A: Having a charity video to show my audience was very useful for engagement and awareness of the campaign and I wish I considered using one from the beginning.

Q: What would you say to someone who is considering streaming for The Big Issue Foundation?
A: I would 100% recommend registering the fundraising event of the website and not just Tiltify as they could miss out on valuable communication and resources that would help with their campaign.

Q: Anything else you want to tell us?
A: I was able to use my art to promote the campaign by auctioning a custom sweater with all the proceeds going toward the fundraiser. I could also recommend having a limited design available only during the campaign.

Thank you to Melda for being the first streamer to fundraise for us, it sounded like a lot of fun and we’re so glad it went well!

If you’re a streamer, we’d love for you to get involved. We are also excited to now be on Discord, come join us: https://discord.gg/NKMdBPPnPy
