Get a limited edition print and original artwork from The Connor Brothers

Internationally acclaimed artistic duo The Connor Brothers are selling original artworks to support The Big Issue. Here's how to get involved.

Acclaimed artistic duo The Connor Brothers are auctioning a unique set of artwork and selling a limited-edition print to raise money for The Big Issue.

The print, featuring a quote from Oscar Wilde, is a limited run of only 75 copies to be sold through Jealous Gallery from Thursday September 9. The Connor Brothers have received international renown for their work, which often features paintings of pinup models accompanied by a pithy quote.

Eleven more original works will be auctioned at Bonhams, with all money generated going directly to support The Big Issue. The hammer will go down on September 22 and all the artwork will be exhibited for free at Jealous East in Shoreditch from September 10 to 19.

Mike Snelle, one half of The Connor Brothers with James Golding, explained why the pair wanted to collaborate with The Big Issue:

“Having experienced both severe mental health issues and addiction problems, James and I are very much aware of how easily life can spiral out of control, no matter our background. One year things seem okay, then the next a series of events unfold that leave you banged up in a psychiatric ward, or living on the streets.

“You might think that being made homeless is something that only happens to others, but given the perfect shit storm, without the right support, and the lives many of us take for granted can quickly lose their foundations.

“It seemed fitting for this print release for The Big Issue to choose a quote from Oscar Wilde, who knew all too well how quickly a stable existence can unravel – one minute he was a society darling, and the next he was penniless and serving time in Reading Jail.”

“We are so thrilled to team-up with The Connor Brothers, raising awareness for The Big Issue,” said Carolin von Massenbach, department director of prints and multiples at Bonhams.

“As influential figures of the Contemporary Art scene, we are extremely delighted to have their iconic works featured as highlights in our upcoming Prints & Multiples auction. By auctioning an exclusive selection of works donated by the artist duo, we are delighted to help raise money for this extremely worthy cause.

“Never has this support been more urgently needed. So, it is with great pride that we are able to host this auction.”
