Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver helped us launch The Big Issue Recipe Collection – and the recipes have cooked up a storm across the UK with millions engaging with our culinary initiative online, in the news and on TV.

The Big Issue Recipe Collection is all about delicious meals at pocket-friendly prices. It was an idea that came from our vendor Paul Logan

While chatting to Big Issue ambassador Sophie Winkleman, he explained that recipes could help readers in the cost of living crisis.

She then called up her friend Jamie Oliver, who was keen to back the plan and did just that on the cover of the magazine that Paul sold on the streets last week.

The story went far and wide last week with Paul telling the tale on ITV London and Virgin Radio while hundreds of online news articles ran pieces – and readers like Amy Rivers branded the plan a “fantastic idea”.

“I can’t believe how I just met Sophie a couple of weeks ago and was telling her about this idea about recipes from vendors, the public and chefs to drive sales of the magazine,” said Paul.

“And it just so happened that I was talking to someone that was a friend of Jamie Oliver and it so quickly became a reality and this week Jamie is on the cover. It’s my dream that this becomes a regular feature and a reason to buy the magazine. I ask everyone to get involved, pick up the magazine and become part of a community.”

So get cooking! Send your recipes and tips to editorial@bigissue.com.
