Pet care crisis

The huge uptick in dog ownership during lockdown is now seeing an unwelcome afterburn. People are increasingly finding that they can’t look after their pets. The cost of living is impacting hard. Families are having to make heart-breaking decisions to hand their much-loved companions away.

The Dogs Trust is now looking after 14,000 dogs a year, and trying to rehome them all. It is a tough situation. As Christmas approaches, we look at the reality of pets in need of a home, and follow one beautiful black Labrador and very good boy called Rocky as a new place is sought.
