It’s official. Liz Truss is going to be our new prime minister and the almighty leader of the Tories. And, in good and proper fashion, the internet has *some thoughts*.
There’s jokes about cheese (never waste an opportunity to bring back that video). There’s unwavering support from Liz’s biggest fan, Joe Lycett. There’s spelling tests, fashion statements and there’s comedians in wigs. More of all of the above, please.
The analysis and expert opinions are important, but we all need a laugh at the best (and the worst) of times. So we’ve rounded up a few golden memes and witty comments from some comedians of the internet.

Mad to think of all the shit Kim Kardashian got for wearing Marilyn Monroe’s old dress to the Met Gala and Liz Truss wore Margaret Thatcher’s rotting corpse for the entire leadership election and won 🙁
The Tory leadership election was essentially a choice for the party voters between a punch in the throat or an iron bar into the bollocks. Congratulations Liz Truss ųO pic.twitter.com/wWunItger4
When most people think about the Big Issue, they think of vendors selling the Big Issue magazines on the streets – and we are immensely proud of this. In 2022 alone, we worked with 10% more vendors and these vendors earned £3.76 million in collective income. There is much more to the work we do at the Big Issue Group, our mission is to create innovative solutions through enterprise to unlock opportunity for the 14million people in the UK living in poverty.
