Positive change for 30 years

In 2021, it was estimated that there were around 227,000 people experiencing the worst forms of homelessness – rough sleeping, sleeping in vans and sheds, and stuck in B&Bs – across England, Scotland and Wales. With the prospect of rising homelessness due to the pandemic, The Big Issue is committed to tackling poverty and preventing homelessness. Your help enables us to provide support and training to vendors, campaign for social equality and to protect future generations, and helps us deliver much needed independent journalism in the UK.

Choose how you'll support us and our vendors

Buy from your local vendor

Since 1991, The Big Issue has helped 105,000 vendors. For 30 years The Big Issue has been proud to help people like Ian change their lives. There are so many others that need our support. Every week your local vendor has a brand-new magazine packed with big names and big ideas. Vendors buy the magazine for £1.50 and sell for £3, keeping the profit. That’s where you come in… give your local vendor a hand up and buy the magazine.

Subscribe to the magazine

Subscribe to the magazine today and you’ll receive weekly editions of an award-winning publication bringing you the latest news on the social issues affecting modern Britain. Plus interviews with the leading voices on life, culture, politics and social activism. As a non-profit organisation, every penny we make goes back into our fight against poverty.

Support us with a donation

If you’d like to make a donation instead, then you can do so via The Big Issue Foundation. Their mission is to connect Big Issue vendors to the vital support and specialist services that enable them to rebuild their lives. £30 can provide emergency relief to vendors in crisis with fuel top ups and food vouchers or fund ongoing support for a vendor to prevent future homelessness.
